Between Two Books, a Creative Journey
Hello again. Hope this post finds you all well.
If you know me personally, then you know that I have a deep connection to music. I get a physiological reaction to certain notes and instruments and pretty much treat live music like going to a worship session. My first hero was Stevie Nicks, who I still adore. And then came Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine.
I can't explain how much I adore her honesty, her poetry, and her general aesthetic. Also, I am in love with being part of Between Two Books, the FATM book club led by Florence and the magical Leah and Emma. If you don't know about this, here's a link- do join in! We are currently reading The Lonely City by Olivia Laing, a beautiful book about art, psychology, and loneliness.

What does this have to do with art? A lot. We find inspiration in many places- through conversation, through reading, through observing. Creating art is an empathic exercise. Florence Welch's own book, Useless Magic, is full of scrawled poetry, saints, pre-Raphaelites, and Morris prints. It's like opening a heart and laying it on your lap.
It's a strange thing to find someone who has your exact aesthetic.
Painting and drawing for #BTBmagicalcrafts on instagram has been pure joy, like sitting down in your most comfortable chair and sinking into it. I was lucky enough to have a painting chosen for the Between Two Books feed as a result.
